The Equinox of September, Quilla Raymi or Day of the Right Sun.

Quilla Raymi

The vast knowledge that our ancestral cultures were able to develop with regard to the mensuration of the time, facilitated to the aboriginal towns to have an agricultural calendar of extraordinary accuracy. Ingenious systems were invented to observe in the sun through the movement of the shade, such as the construction of columns and stone cylinders. There clearly they could appreciate as the shade that projects the sun from the last week of March and during the months of April, May, June, July, August and September it rotates for the right way and from the last week of September and during the months of October, November, December, January, February and March, it rotates for the left side. Only two days at year (March 20th and September 22th) the shade has a right and perpendicular journey from the morning until the afternoon, without leaning neither to the right neither the left, for what doesn't produce any shade to the half-day. This phenomenon is known as “equinox” or “day of the right sun” and it can appreciate it in a perfect way in Half of the World, the Equatorial Line.

Crop ends, time to thank to the Pacha Mama, to the Quilla Mama, to the Tamia Mama, to the woman and all the feminine one.

Corazas and Ñaupadores, Dancers and Aya Humas, Aruchicos and Chinucas will be given appointment in their communities to pay this cosmic gratefulness and to summon to the God Sun, to the Lady Moon and the generous rain so that they fecundate to the Land´s Mother and it becomes it even more fruitful and more generous for the next crop.
