The carnival, pagan party of European influences, characteristic of the last days of February and sometimes the first days of March.
The auto-folkloric, has relationship with a party behavior and excesses three days before entering to the Lent or spiritual withdrawal.
The investigators have registered several folkloric facts of different Ecuadorian regions, the viandas preparation and liquor distributed among the carnavaleros prevailing that to the rhythm of songs and dances threw shells of colors made with wax and full of water, perfume and flowers; eggs, flour and other elements characteristic of the party that still survive in some native sectors.
The dances with disguised men imitate to the European carnestolendas; so that it is even common to see in the towns, parties and processions with dancers dressed of monkeys, carishinas, clowns, capariches and another luck of disguised men who to the rhythm of a popular band they go intoning counterpoint songs or of commendation to the carnival and they get ready to bury it until the coming year.
